I don't understand what Phishing is?
Phishing primarily involves 'look-a-like' websites. These websites are designed to trick you into believing you are on the 'real' site of an institution or company you do business with. Many times, these are financial institutions which require you to use identifying information such as:- Logons
- Passwords
- Social Security Numbers
- Security Questions (e.g. Mother's Maiden Name, etc.)
- Etc
However, should you inadvertently try to go to these sites, the CyberDefender MyIdentityDefender Toolbar, will interrupt you to warn you that this is a known Phishing attack. MyIdentityDefender will further aid you by providing navigation to the correct, safe website of your institution or company.
You may also perform your own Phishing Audit on any website you visit, by utilizing MyIdentityDefender's Site Info feature. This automatic feature examines the current page you are on and will advise you of the level of potential risk this page exposes you to. Please note: that even a HIGH Risk rating does NOT mean this page is a Phishing attack. Simply that sensitive information may be required to utilize the site. MyIdentityDefender will auto report, to the Early Alert Center, any site that may be suspicious.
