User Rating
MyIdentityDefender provides a 5 star user rating system where you can rate the sites that you are visiting and also view ratings left by other CyberDefender users. The 5 star user rating system is broken up in 3 different color warning labels where green (4 to 5 stars) means that the site you are on was rated well or good by other CyberDefender users, yellow (3 stars) means that the site was rated as mediocre and is not highly recommended by CyberDefender users and red (1 to 2 stars) meaning that the site is not recommended by most of CyberDefender users. Security Ratings and User Ratings are not directly related so use caution when visiting any website. There are many instances where a site may have a green security rating - but receive only 1 star as for user ratings. This may be due to the fact that the site you are visiting is a safe site - meaning its not engaged in any criminal activities - but other CyberDefender users have found this site to be bad due to its behavior such as bad customer service. User Rating Index
Websites behave just like people. Sometimes they do good things and sometimes they do bad things. That's why we created a
website "behavior" meter that tells you where the site was a few months ago and where it is now - in terms of user satisfaction. Why is this important? Well imagine that you are visiting a site that is currently rated high - but how do you know that just a few months ago this site was engaged in bad behavior and received low user ratings. With the User Rating Index you will see the history of how a website behaved months and ultimately years before. Website Contact Information
MyIdentityDefender provides basic company street address, city, state and zip
code information in addition to the website IP address, phone number,
email contact and even a link to the map where you can get directions to the
street address. There are many instances where the street address for the website
is not the same as for the actual business or the website owner. Many
webmasters use private domain registration services or simply block this information
from being visible to users. Use caution when visiting the physical location
of any website since there is no guarantee that the location you are visiting
actually belongs to the owner of the domain name.
IP Address and Cookie Rating
MyIdentityDefender will display the IP address for the site you are viewing. Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods and look something like 127.0.0.1. Since these numbers are usually assigned to Internet Service Providers (ISP), an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user’s general location. MyIdentityDefender will display the number of cookies which a site has placed on your machine. A “cookie” is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a web browser so it can later be read back from that browser. This is useful to allow the browser to remember some specific information.
